The Concept

One Hull, Two Boats

As the Apex Para K1 (Apex P), this kayak conforms to the regulations set by the ICF for a Paralympic K1 - the platform paracanoe athletes race at the official level, with adaptive seating from a standard sprint seat up to a full bucket seat.

Fit it with the standard sprint seat and it becomes the Apex Trainer K1 (Apex T) - a superb off-season trainer, the perfect first sprint kayak for intermediates, and a marathon weapon with great top-end speed that turns on a dime.

FAQ

Q: What is the Apex Para K1?

A: It's Stellar's Paralympic K1 racing kayak (Apex P), designed to conform to the regulations set by the ICF for a Paralympic K1 - the boat paracanoe athletes race at the official level.

Q: What's the difference between the Apex P and the Apex T?

A: Same hull, different seat. With the standard sprint seat, the boat is the Apex Trainer K1 (Apex T) - an off-season trainer and an entry point to sprint kayaking. Set up for paracanoe (including the full bucket seat option), it's the Apex Para K1 (Apex P).

Q: Is it ICF legal?

A: Yes - the Apex P conforms to ICF regulations for a Paralympic K1, so it can be used in sanctioned paracanoe competition.

Q: Who is the Apex Trainer for?

A: Intermediate paddlers getting into their first sprint kayak, sprint athletes training in the off-season, and marathon racers - the Apex T has great top-end speed and turns on a dime.

Q: Can it do marathons?

A: Yes. Stellar pitches the Apex T as perfect for marathon racing: great top-end speed for the straights and quick turning for buoy and portage courses.

Q: What seating options are available?

A: A variety, from the standard sprint seat up to a full bucket seat, plus footbrace options - so para athletes and coaches can fit the boat to individual needs.

Q: Which construction should I pick?

A: Alpha for the lightest, stiffest race build at 22 lb; Excel for added impact strength at 22.7 lb; Multi-Sport for a flexible, durable build (with over-stern rudder) at 29.7 lb for training rotations and rough water.

Q: Is it stable enough for powerful leg drive?

A: That's a design priority: the Apex's increased hull stability and strong 3-point footbrace give a solid platform for a powerful leg drive - essential for both para racing and sprint technique.
