The Concept
The S18S, Reborn as Osprey
The Osprey is the original S18S G2 / S18S EXP, renamed to clear up the confusion between Stellar's 18-foot skis. The hull gained speed through larger cut-aways and narrowed bow sections, with the rocker and trim re-tuned for efficient paddling and catching waves - without losing any stability.
It stays within USCA fast sea kayak regulations, carries a large oval stern hatch with real storage, and comes fully equipped: DeBrito bailer, carbon handles at both ends, rudder fittings, side handles, bottle holder, leash attachment and deck bungees. A boat your fleet needs.
Features
Stable, Fast, and It Carries Gear
The Osprey refuses to make you choose between stability, speed and storage.

More Speed, Same Stability
Larger cut-aways and a narrowed bow lift speed over the S18S G1, while the rocker and trim keep the hull stable and wave-friendly.

Stern Hatch Storage
A large oval stern hatch holds 23.7 Gal (89.6 L), plus 10.3 Gal in the bow - real carrying capacity on a surf ski.

Flush DeBrito Bailer
Dry starts, dry paddles and rapid water removal - the flush-mounted DeBrito bailer keeps the cockpit free of water.

Carbon Handles Both Ends
Lightweight carbon handles at bow and stern make carrying easy - and keep weight off the deck.

Comfort & Convenience
A rounded seat, cockpit handles, side handles, water bottle holder, leash attachment and deck bungees all come standard.

Rudder-Ready & USCA Legal
Under-stern and over-stern rudder fittings come standard, and the hull stays within USCA fast sea kayak regulations for racing.

FAQ
What paddlers ask about the stable intermediate with storage.
Q: Why is it called Osprey?
A: The Osprey is the S18S G2 / S18S EXP renamed - Stellar renamed it to eliminate name-similarity confusion with its other 18-foot surf skis, and the Osprey name now clearly marks the stable intermediate in the line.
Q: Is it stable?
A: Yes - that's its identity. The 17'11" hull with a 20.2" beam keeps all of the stability of the S18S G1 while the cut-aways, narrowed bow and re-tuned rocker add speed.
Q: Does it have storage?
A: Unusually for a surf ski, yes. A large oval hatch in the stern offers 23.7 Gal (89.6 L) of storage, plus 10.3 Gal (39 L) in the bow - real capacity for gear, trips and daily use.
Q: What comes standard?
A: A flush-mounted DeBrito bailer, carbon handles at each end, under-stern and over-stern rudder fittings, side handles, a water bottle holder, leash attachment and deck bungees - plus an optional surf ski back band.
Q: Osprey vs Falcon - which one should I choose?
A: The Falcon (19'6", 18.7" beam) is the sleeker, faster intermediate. The Osprey (17'11", 20.2" beam) is the shorter, wider, more stable option with real storage - the easier step for beginners and a workhorse for fleets.
Q: Is it USCA legal?
A: Yes. The Osprey stays within USCA fast sea kayak regulations, so it qualifies for USCA racing classes as well as everyday paddling.
Q: Which construction should I pick?
A: Alpha for the lightest, stiffest hull; Excel for Kevlar impact strength at a slight weight increase; Multi-Sport for rapids, shallows and rough use (rudder and bailer included); Advantage for maximum toughness and the best value.
Q: Who is the Osprey built for?
A: Beginners moving up, intermediate paddlers who want gear-carrying capability, and clubs or coaching programs that need a stable, fully-equipped, regulation-legal boat in their fleet.
